Sharpe’s Soil Services 2007 Pumpkin Growing Contest
Another successful Sharpe’s Pumpkin Contest was held this year with the kick off once again in May with the kids picking up their growing kits. A total of 54 pumpkin kits were handed out. The kits consisted of seeds, Koch Liquid Fertilizer and some growing hints.
Weigh-in day was held on October 3, 2007 at Sharpe’s in Langenburg. About 24 pumpkins were brought in to be weighed, the biggest pumpkin weighed in at 109 lbs which was brought in on a fork lift by Claire and Gracyn DeCock. Every child received a prize for bringing a pumpkin and ribbons were awarded to first, second and third in each of the three age groups. Hotdogs, chips and drinks were served to all in attendance. Approximately 60 parents, grandparents and children were in attendance. We would like to thank everyone who participated in the pumpkin contest.

5-8 years old:
1st, Tyler DeCock, 103 lbs

3rd, Tayler & Carlie Geres, 52 lbs
9-12 years old:
1st, Presley DeCock, 109 lbs
2nd, Bobbi Jo Schappert, 42 lbs
3rd, Tyler Kendell, 29 lbs
